BLOCKHEADS: NETFLIX SETS SIGHTS ON NEW ENTERTAINMENT FORMAT FROM SOUTH SHORE

Streaming giant Netflix have reportedly commissioned new entertainment series Blockheads, produced by South Shore (The Floor UK, Cooking With The Stars, World's Apart).

The new format will see famous faces wearing disguises whilst trying to work out who the other celebrities they're surrounded by are. The Sun newspaper reports they will have "large blocks placed on their heads and their voices disguised, while guessers will have to work out the hidden identities from clues."

The tabloid also suggests that camera will be inside each block mask to give viewers an inside look at the celebrities behind the block. A source added to the newspaper: "It’s also trying to capture some of the current desire for guessing games, typified in shows such as The Masked Singer and The Celebrity Traitors."

Netflix have so far struggled to break into shiny floor entertainment, with their two most recent examples - Dance Monsters and Building The Band - both being axed after one series.

Dance Monsters was a dance competition with a monster twist hosted by Ashley Roberts with judges Ashley Banjo, Ne-Yo and Lele Pons. Through the power of VFX, live motion capture and facial recognition, competitors were transformed into loveable and fantastical dance monsters that come to life in front of an expert panel of judges and a live studio audience.

Meanwhile, Building The Band was a competition which brought together 50 of the most talented singers for a truly unique competition show where building the perfect band is all about chemistry. The singers were complete control as they seeked to form their very own bands without ever seeing each other. All they have to go on is musical compatibility, connection, chemistry, and merit.
