BREAKING BRISTOL: E4 TO FOLLOW DANCE CREW FOR NEW REALITY SERIES

E4 have announced the commission of new series Breaking Bristol (w/t), which follows hip-hop dance crew Dark Angels, in a new six-part series to air in 2022.

The show follows the group as they fight to achieve what no other group has done – defend their UK title and win back-to-back gold medals at the National Dance Championships.

The six-part series will explore the intimate personal stories of the 30 strong dance troupe, who juggle full time jobs or education with their passion for dance. Bound by strong friendships and the familiarity of growing up in the tightknit community of Knowle West, the series follows their ambitious journey through the season and onwards to Bournemouth and the UK Championships.

Channel 4's Harjeet Chhokar said: "We are joining the Dark Angels as they live through a year like no other, battling to retain their title and win back to back gold medals, a feat no other team has achieved, whist handling the day to day challenges of sometimes turbulent lives. This series is real and relatable, it has light, gloss and flair and some irresistible dancing talent. We’re really excited for E4 viewers to get hooked into this brand-new factual offering – Breaking Bristol."

David DeHaney, Creative Director at Proper Content, commented: "We’re excited to follow the Dark Angels through a season like no other as they emerge from life with restrictions and navigate the new reality with major competitions to win along the way. The series promises laughter and tears as we root for the Angels, hoping they win in life and dance."
