CHANNEL 5 ORDER SECOND SERVING OF EGGHEADS

Following its successful debut on Channel 5, the broadcaster has announced hit quiz show Eggheads will return for a brand-new series in 2022.

The much-loved format will continue to be fronted by broadcaster and presenter, Jeremy Vine.

Eggheads found success on Channel 5 earlier this year launching to a strong audience and consistently beating slot averages with the show averaging a 447k audience with 3.1% share, up 341% on the slot and growing ABC1 share by a massive 407%. The quiz show has been instrumental in Channel 5’s expanded news offering and continues to air daily on the channel.

Vine will be joined once again by the formidable Eggheads, some of Britain’s most experienced quizzers, as plucky teams from across the country take them on for a cash prize and the ultimate brainy bragging rights. The channel has upped the episode order from 40 to 60.

The team of challengers compete against them, across a series of hard hitting, high-brow general knowledge question rounds. If the Eggheads win, the prize rolls over until they can be beaten.

Host and Quizmaster Jeremy Vine said: “I’m ecstatic Eggheads is continuing on Channel 5, we’ve made such a lovely home here and I can’t wait to see the Eggs take on even more challengers in the new year”

Commissioning Editor Daniel Pearl said: “After it’s success on the channel there was only one answer when deciding to recommission it and that was a yes. The strength of the series has proven that Channel 5 can continue grow its audience”

Michael Mannes, MD of 12 Yard added “We are delighted that Eggheads is a hit with the Channel 5 audience and look forward to making more episodes with Jeremy and our team of quizzing goliaths.”
