WONDERS OF THE HUMAN BODY: MICHAEL MOSLEY TO FRONT NEW CHANNEL 5 SERIES
Channel 5 has ordered a new 3 x 60’ part series which reveals the incredible way our bodies work in Wonders of the Human Body, produced by Glasgow production company Storyboard Studios.
The three-part series will be presented by health guru and science journalist Dr Michael Mosley as he sets out to decode the marvel of design and engineering that is the human body, inviting viewers to see our bodies in new ways and understand how they work and how the body changes as we age.
Michael puts his own body to the test and tracks down truly eye-opening breakthroughs, whether having a brand-new scan that promises to predict a heart attack years in advance, going under hypnosis in order to try and conquer his fear of MRI machines.
Or following pioneering brain surgery to cure tremors. In his inimitable style, Michael is willing to put himself up for analysis in his quest to understand and demonstrate the wonders of the body.
Topics and fascinating facts that will be unpacked during the series include what happens inside our bodies when we catch a virus? What exactly goes on in our bones as we age? Why do arteries narrow in some people but not others? How do doctors replace a heart or a hip?
Michael Mosely said: “This was a fascinating series to make and I learned a lot about the workings of the human body in general, and my own in particular, which I am looking forward to sharing."
Kit Morey, Commissioning Editor Unscripted, Channel 5 and Paramount+ added: “This enthralling three-part series forms part of Channel 5’s wider push into science programming. Dr Michael Mosley guides viewers expertly through the hidden wonders of the human body, exploring the questions we have all often pondered.”
Natalie Humphreys, Storyboard Studios said: “We want to make the science of the human body relatable and appealing to a big broad audience. There’s so much we still don’t know and discoveries are being made all the time, so making this new series is exciting for us as a team”.
The series, which will air later this year, was ordered by Kit Morey for Channel 5.
