CHANNEL 5 UNVEILS AUTUMN DRAMA SLATE FOR 2024

Channel 5 have announced its upcoming drama slate including new series The Teacher, The Wives, Hardacres, Ellis as well as returning series All Creatures Great and Small and Dalgliesh.



The Teacher, which is produced by Clapperboard, forms part of an Anthology collection following the incredibly successful psychological thriller The Teacher which aired in 2022, this new series stars Kara Tointon, Emmett J. Scanlan and Will Mellor. When a student’s death is revealed to be murder, Dani, a dedicated art teacher, quickly becomes entangled in a web of desire and deceit with her own marriage at the centre of it.



The Wives, produced by Gaumont and starring Jo Joyner, Tamzin Outhwaite and Angela Griffin, is a six-part mystery drama that follows the unravelling of one family in a summer that changes all their lives. 


The Hardacres, produced by Playground and starring Claire Cooper, Julie Graham and Liam McMahon, is a sweeping rags to riches story that follows the lives, loves and fortunes of the working class Hardacre family as they move from a grimy fish dock to a vast country estate in 1890’s Yorkshire.



Ellis, produced by Company Pictures and starring Sharon D. Clarke and Andrew Gower, is a three-part series which follows DCI Ellis, a tenacious cop who is parachuted into failing investigations. As a black female cop, Ellis is used to being dismissed and overlooked, but she is a first-class murder detective, with a determination for justice and a deep well of compassion for those who need it.

 

All Creatures Great and Small, which is produced by Playground and has become a staple of the Channel 5 schedule, will also be back for a fifth series, and hit detective drama Dalgliesh, which is co-commissioned with Acorn TV and produced by New Pictures, will return for a third series, adapting another three novels from P.D. James’ international best-selling murder mysteries.

With detective mysteries, gripping dramas, psychological thrillers and an incredible line up of UK talent to bring the stories to life, there’ll be something for everyone to enjoy.”
