EURO 2024: ENGLAND'S QUARTER-FINAL WIN SCORES BIG FOR BBC ONE
The unmissable drama of England’s Euro 2024 campaign continued last night as they take on Switzerland for a place in the semi-finals in Gareth Southgate’s 100th game in charge.
England reached the quarter-finals after a dramatic win against Slovakia in the last 16, with Jude Bellingham’s 95th-minute equaliser sparing the Three Lions from elimination before captain Harry Kane sealed their passage to the next round with the winner in extra time.
They faced an impressive Switzerland side who are unbeaten this calendar year and who knocked out defending champions Italy in the round of 16. England, though, are unbeaten in all three previous meetings at major tournaments, including a 3-0 win in the most recent such encounter in the group stage of Euro 2004.
Gary Lineker presented comprehensive live coverage, with studio analysis from Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard and Micah Richards. Guy Mowbray and Alan Shearer provide commentary.
An average of 13.65m watched the match on BBC One last night, peaking at 16.78m for the penalty shootout at the end. Figures posted by BBC correspondent Lizo Mzimba.
