Grab your safety goggles! Horrible Science is preparing for take-off - with a Horrible blend of hilarious parodies, silly songs, fascinating facts, ridiculous wigs, curriculum-linked educational resources and star-studded guest appearances from the likes of Fred Siriex, Gladiator Steel, TikTok Scientist Big Manny and Judge Rinder.

Ever wondered how Sir Isaac Newton would defy gravity on a rollercoaster? Or what a gym class where you defend yourself in the same way plants do would look like? Get ready for Horrible Science, brought to you by the award-winning team behind Horrible Histories.
Created with the unique ‘Horrible’ DNA of laugh-out-loud comedy combined with mind-bending scientific facts, science learning and homework is about to become a whole lot more fun. From deadly dinosaurs to ferocious forces, and spectacular space to gnarly nanotech, this new brand aims to inspire younger audiences through laughter and learning.
In a first for BBC Children’s and Education, Horrible Science will extend beyond a new TV show with episodes linked directly to the National Curriculum. Five of the episodes will be themed around key primary science topics: materials and states, forces and motion, light, sound and electricity, earth and space and working scientifically. BBC Bitesize Primary will feature 25 curriculum-linked sketches of these themes and songs taken from episodes.
These sketches will support BBC Bitesize’s resources across the KS2 curriculum and form part of the Bitesize Primary guides, which include text, illustrations, photos, infographics, interactive games, quizzes and activities to be used in the classroom and at home. There will also be a brand-new Horrible Science experience for young fans to enjoy in the BBC Wonder Chase Roblox game featuring Isaac Newton.

Patricia Hidalgo, Director of BBC Children’s and Education, says: “Our mission is to inform, educate and entertain and now, we’re taking greater strides towards bringing entertainment and education closer together than ever before. Making it even easier for teachers and parents to bring the ‘Horrible’ magic into learning spaces. So, kids across the UK get ready to watch Horrible Science for homework!”
Throughout the 10-part series, we will meet key scientific figures including Sir Isaac Newton, Marie Curie, Albert Einstein, Katherine Johnson and Charles Darwin as well as new additions to the Horrible family: Dr Big Brain, DI Loofah, The Force Force, Lacey Loloman and the Earth and Moon, plus new puppet host Pipette.
A host of iconic British stars will make appearances across the series, including Gladiator Steel, first-dates favourite Fred Siriex, TikTok science sensation Big Manny and Judge Rinder. Its cast includes Richard David-Caine, Harrie Hayes, Will Hislop, Halema Hussain, Emily Lloyd-Saini, James McNicholas, Jessica Ransom, Luke Rollason, Tom Stourton, Inel Tomlinson and Timmika Ramsay.
Owing to Horrible Histories’ legacy of hilarious songs, Horrible Science will be packed with original Horrible Science spins on pop classics, written by Richie Webb.
Horrible Science is made by Lion Television, part of All3Media, the team behind the beloved, multi award-winning Horrible Histories TV show, which has been delighting young audience for 15 years.
The brand-new comedy sketch series and educational resource will launch on Friday 9 May on CBBC and BBC iPlayer, and curriculum learning resources on BBC Bitesize.
