INSIDE NO.9 TO END AFTER NINTH SERIES

Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith’s critically acclaimed and BAFTA-award winning anthology series, Inside No. 9, will end after its ninth series.

Produced by BBC Studios Comedy Productions and broadcast on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer, each series of Inside No. 9 features six stand-alone stories which invites viewers into Shearsmith and Pemberton’s world of the extraordinary and macabre.

Series eight and nine are still to be broadcast, and both series will stay true to show’s anthology format with each series containing six brand new half hour films, each set in a different location. The style and tone changing each week, combining a different mix of horror, thriller, drama and comedy - always aiming to surprise, delight, unnerve and amuse.

The creators have announced, via The Sun, that the hit comedy will end - fittingly - after Series 9. Steve Pemberton told The Sun: "We feel it is a good time to pause Inside No9 after we finish filming series nine next year... We’re not saying it’s over for good. After all, The League Of Gentlemen came back, but we won’t be looking to make any more episodes for the time being."

The show returns to BBC Two later this month (December) for a Christmas special. Joined by guest stars Shobna Gulati and Simon Callow, they serve up a disturbingly spooky tale. It’s Christmas Eve, and Dr Parkway has booked an overnight stay in a reputedly haunted church. But why is he so keen to be left alone by the eccentric warden and his other guests? A twisted ghost story for Christmas.

Speaking on the Series 8 and 9 commission, the BBC's Seb Barwell said “We are doubly thrilled to announce two more series of the endlessly inventive Inside No 9 and look forward to discovering where the colossal comedy brains of Reece and Steve take us next, in 12 new instalments of a show now firmly established as an all-time great.”

All previous episodes of Inside No. 9 are available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.
