ITV TO PILOT PHYSICAL CHALLENGE SHOW FROM LIFTED ENTERTAINMENT

ITV are set to pilot a new physical challenge format from Lifted Entertainment (part of ITV Studios), with filming taking place in Australia.

Applications are now open (here) for teams of 3 to take part. Team members will all need to be known to each other and up for a challenge! For example, you could be friends, family, colleagues, neighbours.

Elsewhere, ITV have reportedly commissioned a UK version of reality survival format The Summit, The Sun newspaper reports.

The format, which has been a success in Australia and recently commissioned in the US, sees a group of strangers from all walks of life come together to embark on an epic adventure, trekking one of the world's highest mountains in a limited period to win the prize pot.

Each contestants will carry a share of the prize pot on their back as they hike to the summit, facing adrenaline-charged challenges which block their path up the mountain. Along their journey, contestants will be forced to eliminate people from the group.

The Summit is a game of betrayal, trust and greed which will test all the contestants physically and mentally. The Sun reports the prize pot for the UK series, reportedly commissioned by ITV, will be £500,000.

A source told The Sun: "The Summit combines back-stabbing and strategy with physical endurance and against-the-clock tension. It’s been done brilliantly on Australian TV, where the hikers climbed Mount Cook in New Zealand...

"The two series produced high-octane drama, nail-biting moments of peril and good, old-fashioned reality TV drama between warring factions. ITV is casting now for the first British series, which will follow the same format and similarly fly out to one of the world’s most brutal peaks."

More details will be announced in due course.
