LITTLE BRITAIN RETURNS TO BBC iPLAYER

The zany comedy show with Matt Lucas and David Walliams, featuring characters from all over Little Britain, returns to BBC iPlayer.

The programme was removed from BBC iPlayer, and other platforms such as Netflix, in 2020 in response to anti-racism protests in the wake of the death of George Floyd. The show was, and still is, criticised of its use of blackface and its portrayal of disabled and gay characters.

At the time, the BBC said "There's a lot of historical programming available on BBC iPlayer, which we regularly review. Times have changed since Little Britain first aired so it is not currently available on BBC iPlayer."

Whilst the series has now returned to BBC iPlayer (March 2022), it's understood that some of the most controversial sketches have been edited out of the programme.

In 2020, Matt Lucas tweeted: "David and I have both spoken publicly in recent years of our regret that we played characters of other races. Once again we want to make clear that it was wrong and we are very sorry."
