Based on Liz Moore’s New York Times bestselling novel, Long Bright River is an eight-part limited drama which tells the story of Mickey (Seyfried), a police officer who patrols a Philadelphia neighbourhood hard-hit by the opioid crisis. When a series of murders begins in the neighbourhood, Mickey realizes that her personal history might be related to the case.
The series stars Amanda Seyfried (The Dropout, Les Misérables, Mamma Mia!), Nicholas Pinnock (The Book of Clarence, Top Boy, For Life), Ashleigh Cummings (Citadel, The Goldfinch), Callum Vinson (Chucky, Coup!), and John Doman (The Wire, For Life).
Polly Scates, Head of Acquisitions, Channel 4 says: “We were immediately hooked by this propulsive thriller and Amanda Seyfried’s scene stealing performance as ‘Mickey’. We’re thrilled that Channel 4 will be the home of Long Bright River in the UK and to bring this compelling series to our viewers across both streaming and linear.”
Long Bright River comes from SPT and UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group. Nikki Toscano (The Offer, Hunters) and Liz Moore (Long Bright River) write and executive produce, with Toscano serving as showrunner.
