LOUIS THEROUX INTERVIEWS SHELVED AFTER TWO SERIES

Louis Theroux Interviews has been shelved after two series on the BBC, with Theroux instead focusing on presenting and producing other projects.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Louis is very much seen as a BBC star, having launched his career there in 1998 when he was an unknown. And his two interview series in 2022 and 2023 were very much seen by execs as him doing what he does best. But now it seems he won’t be going back to the format, potentially for years."

Meanwhile, following the success of Boybands Forever, Girlbands Forever is coming to BBC Two and iPlayer later this year, once again produced by award-winning Mindhouse Productions and from BAFTA-winning producers Louis Theroux and Nancy Strang.

Revealed by The Sun newspaper, Girlbands Forever (3 x 60”) tells the inside story behind the success of some of the UK and Ireland’s most celebrated popstars during the 90s and early 00s such as the Spice Girls, Eternal, Girls Aloud and Atomic Kitten.

Featuring searingly honest interviews with the artists themselves, as well as the music label bosses and managers behind their ascent to fame, the series is a thoughtful look at the girlband phenomenon of that time and the cultural landscape it emerged from.

Star who contributed to Boybands Forever included Robbie Williams, Nigel Martin-Smith, Tony Mortimer, John Hendy, Terry Coldwell, Danniella Westbrook, Andi Peters, Jayne Middlemiss, Siân Pattenden (Smash Hits), Hannah Verdier (Smash Hits) and Michael Cragg (music journalist/author).

Boybands Forever is available now on BBC iPlayer.
