THE MASKED SINGER: OLLY MURS JOINS SHOW AS GUEST PANELLIST
The hit series, hosted by Joel Dommett, will return to ITV1 with a one-off special later this year, followed by the annual series in January 2024.
Part guessing game and part singing show, the spectacular series sees 12 famous faces compete to pull off the best performance, with their identity elaborately and imaginatively concealed, thanks to an expert team of talented costume designers.
TV Zone exclusively revealed over the summer that judging panel for the series will remain unchanged. Returning to the show alongside host Joel Dommett are Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan, Rita Ora and Jonathan Ross.
However, it's since been announced that Rita will be joining the panel of The Masked Singer USA. Date clashes means she will be unable to film some episodes of the UK series this year. Instead, ITV will be introducing new celebrity guest panellists.
It's been revealed, via The Sun, that the first name to join the panel is comedy legend Jennifer Saunders. Olly Murs, who was recently dropped from The Voice UK panel, will also join the show in the next series.
Katie Rawcliffe, head of entertainment at ITV, previously said: "The Masked Singer has once again established itself as unmissable event television, keeping the nation guessing throughout its glorious eight-week run. We’re already counting down to see who’s hiding behind those infamous masks and look forward to welcoming the series back next year."
Last year, The Masked Singer aired a special I'm A Celebrity themed episode with stars including Alison Hammond behind the mask. Tabloid reports have previously suggested this year's special could be focused on the ITV soap Coronation Street.
TV Zone exclusively revealed earlier this year that ITV have no plans for another series of The Masked Dancer, with the broadcaster opting to rest the show instead.
The Masked Singer airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
