The Sun newspaper are reporting that Amazon have 'pulled funding' from Neighbours and failed to agree a new deal with production company Fremantle.

The tabloid reports that Amazon have told Fremantle their 'venture into soaps hasn't work' and are 'pulling funding' for the show. Neighbours aired on Channel 5 until 2022 when it was axed by the UK broadcaster, before being picked up by the streamer later that year.

A source told The Sun: "Amazon gave Fremantle two years to see if it worked but sadly they just didn’t get the viewers. It’s a really sad day especially for the cast and crew who work on the show in Melbourne. This really is the end of Neighbours just as it’s celebrated it’s 40th birthday."

Neighbours is available now on Prime Video.
