NETFLIX CONFIRMS RELEASE OF GRENFELL TOWER DOCUMENTARY
Netflix has today announced the commission of Grenfell (w/t) (1x90’) produced by award-winning Rogan Productions (Defiance: Fighting the Far Right, Uprising, The Search for Nicola Bulley).
The film will painstakingly connect the long and disturbing chain of events that led to the disastrous Grenfell Tower fire that claimed the lives of 72 people in west London in 2017.
As well as giving a voice to survivors, bereaved families and firefighters, the documentary will unravel and document a series of events that took place in the years before the fire highlighting each warning and failing revealing it to be the inevitable result of Government neglect and cynical industry practices.
Grenfell (w/t) is directed by Olaide Sadiq. Executive producers are James Rogan, Sandy Smith and Soleta Rogan. The line producer is Emma Scott.
Soleta Rogan, MD of Rogan Productions said: “We are immensely proud of the production team that has worked tirelessly to bring as many elements of the systemic failures to light as possible, and we are incredibly grateful to those affected by the tragedy in their various ways for sharing their stories and experiences with us.”
Olaide Sadiq, Director, Rogan Productions says: “It’s vital to convey the significance of the investigative findings, but we are equally committed to highlighting that Grenfell was a home—a place of comfort and safety for the residents – that was sadly compromised to the extent where people’s right to safety was stripped away. This film has been shaped by the voices of Grenfell’s bereaved and survivors, and those who fought for change long before the tragedy as well as after.”
Known for award winning and high-end documentary making, Rogan Productions have a rich history of creating films that bring to life important stories through thoughtful, compelling and emotive film-making. Their credits include the multi-award-winning Uprising, in collaboration with Sir Steve McQueen, Emmy and Rose D’Or winning, Freddie Mercury: The Final Act and the landmark award-winning series, Stephen: The Murder That Changed A Nation.
