OPERATION HOPE: AMAZON PLANE CRASH SUBJECT OF NEW NETFLIX DOC IN DEVELOPMENT

Netflix have reportedly become the latest streamer to be developing a new documentary on the 2023 Amazon plane disaster and the Mucutuy family. It follows similar shows from National Geographic and Prime Video.

The documentary tells the story of May 1, 2023 when four children were aboard a small plane when it crashed deep in the Amazon. The children not only survived the accident, but spent 40 days alone in the jungle until they were finally rescued on June 9.

The Prime Video documentary shows the true story of how the rescue developed with the first ever operation between the army and indigenous rescuers and includes testimony from the people who lived through the search, and the children as told to their family.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "The story of the Mucutuy family was always destined for Hollywood - it’s an incredible story of survival against the odds. The piece will honour the bravery of the children as well as pull out the twists of the tale that captivated the world and, among others, Netflix are in discussions around it now."

More details on the Netflix project will be revealed in due course.
