OUR LIVES RETURNS FOR EIGHTH SERIES ON BBC ONE

Following the success of past seasons, Our Lives has been re-commissioned for an eighth time. The series celebrates home-grown storytelling and UK life in all its diversity, reflecting the extraordinary lives of ordinary people across all four nations.

Two Sisters, One Goal

This is an inspirational observational documentary following Katy and her sister Emma who are channelling grief into something very special.

Mobilizing the community of Brynaman, the sisters embark on an ambitious project: a charity football match between Wales and England, featuring big name football stars from the Wales Euro 2016 squad.

The Dinohunters

Everyone can find a fossil on a beach but some people become obsessed with the search. This film follows fossil hunters on the south Wales coast and in quarries of mid Wales as they bring their finds to the expert at the National Museum of Wales, Cindy Howells.

Secrets of the Lost Mines

Two friends are obsessed with exploring the old mine workings of mid-Wales. They research plans of the workings at the National Library in Aberystwyth and go exploring discovering old mine wagons and possessions left by the miners more than 100 years ago.

Darts City

Following colourful characters, drawn to the oche for their own reasons, each battling their own fears and demons. A woman feared in her local league, but wracked with self-doubt when representing her country; a teenager dreaming of nights on the big stage, hurting with past failures; and a man chasing clean-sweep perfection.

The Omagh Hum

This is the story of a town ‘driven demented’ by a mysterious hum. Sleepless, dismissed and crazed, people in Omagh have, for months, been trying to track down the source of the persistent noise that has kept them awake since October, 2023.

Pets Saving Lives

Domestic pets and drones are revolutionising search and rescue operations. In this Our Lives film we follow these dedicated packs of canine heroes as they embark on life-saving missions across Northern Ireland.

The Seal Whisperer

A hardworking GP has struck up a unique relationship with one of the world's largest grey seal populations. He's become one of the country's leading experts on their underwater behaviour, and with his own amazing footage he takes us below the waves to see for ourselves.

The creatures trust him so much they even shake hands (flippers) with him. He shares his groundbreaking discoveries in seal behaviour, including how seals communicate with their whiskers.

Our Yorkshire Stately Home

Wentworth Woodhouse in South Yorkshire was once one of the grandest and most important stately homes in England. When it started falling into rack and ruin, a preservation trust stepped in to save it for the local community. And now an army of skilled workers and local volunteers are undertaking the most challenging heritage restoration project of a generation.

The Lakes: Our Life on the Edge

Anna and Mat are not your typical couple, they’re professional climbers. And not just any climbers, they’re free solo climbers, climbing without ropes, relying purely on their skills.

Anna and Mat set out on a massive challenge - a 100 mile round trip across the Lake District, free soloing some of Britain’s most daunting peaks. With just one week to complete their adventure, they must tackle the unpredictable British weather and the brutal realities of camping in the wilderness. Anna and Mat are confident in their abilities but the odds are stacked against them.

The Boy Who Could Fly

This is an exhilarating story of a young Scotsman who defies conventional expectations and gravity. Ever since he was young, growing up in Stonehaven, Liam Byrne has had a dream: to fly like the birds.

At just 23 years old Liam is already one of the youngest top-tier base jumpers in the world and current British champion in performance wing-suit flying.

The Secret Lives of Lighthouse Keepers

Catch a rare glimpse into the working world of the teams who are responsible for keeping the lights on in more than 200 lighthouses round the coast of Scotland and the Isle of Man.

Keeping some of the country’s most treacherous coastal waters safe to navigate, the teams work for the Northern Lighthouse Board which was established in 1786, looking after some of the most iconic lighthouses some of which were built by the family of the famous writer Robert Louis Stevenson.

The Journey to Scotland’s Remotest Pub

Twenty five years ago, the community in thriving Scottish village of Inverie pulled together to buy their beloved land from private landowners, securing its future for the people who live there and the many more who travel there to the remote Knoydart peninsula on Scotland’s scenic Highland west coast.

The inspiring documentary charts the villagers’ story and the story of the people who travel miles through some of Scotland’s most rugged terrain to get to this magical place for a drink at the village’s one and only pub.

Each of the 12 Our Lives programmes will all air on BBC One.
