Sister Boniface Mysteries: Once Upon A Time | Preview (U&Drama)
Christmas is coming and for the Great Slaughter Amateur Dramatics Society (GSADS) that means Pantomime! This year it is Cinderella and with the appointment of a “celebrity” director, Jonas Blake (Ed Birch), the pressure is on to deliver the best performance yet.
CC Lowsley (Robert Dawes) volunteers the Great Slaughter constabulary to swell the cast. Peggy (Ami Metcalf) is willing but both Sam (Max Brown) and Felix (Jerry Iwu) are horrified. The title role goes to the brash Bunny Frobisher (Katherine Kingsley).
Busy-body Samira Rowbotham (Mina Anwar) is cast as the Evil Stepmother whilst her long suffering husband Robbie (Les Dennis) plays Baron Hard up. Meanwhile, Tibbles the cat leaves Mrs Clam (Belinda Lang) and Miss Thimble (Sarah Crowden) a grisly gift; a human eyeball! Sister Boniface is on the case, whilst Sister Reg (Virginia Fiol) grapples with the heartache of having to sacrifice her friend Terry the Turkey for Christmas dinner.
As pantomime rehearsals commence Jonas’ questionable artistic vision creates hostility within the company, whilst Miranda’s hatred of Bunny causes her to snap at the enthusiastic props assistant Wilf (Daniel Laurie).
Events take a sinister turn when Aubrey’s body falls out of a wardrobe onto the stage, and soon after another cast member is slain! Sister Boniface now has a serial killer on her hands. Can she unmask them before they strike again?
Sister Boniface Mysteries: Once Upon a Time airs 20th December on U&Drama.
