The Olympics continued on BBC One. The most watched slots were the evening programmes: 6,456,000 on Monday; 5,919,000 on Tuesday; 5,578,000 on Sunday; 5,412,000 on Friday; 5,392,000 on Thursday; 5,266,000 on Wednesday and 5,135,000 on Saturday.

In soaps, Coronation Street hit a high on Wednesday night with 4,262,000. Emmerdale's highest rating episode was also Wednesday with 3,876,000 and EastEnders was Monday night with 2,771,000.
