RING MY BELL: SATURDAY NIGHT TAKEAWAY GAMESHOW SPIN-OFF 'SHELVED' BY ITV FOLLOWING PILOT

 EXCLUSIVE

Ring My Bell has seemingly been shelved by ITV after a pilot was recorded earlier this year for the Saturday Night Takeaway spin-off gameshow.

The format for Ring My Bell was based on the popular segment from Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, which aired its final series earlier this year. The pilot was hosted by comedy and podcasting duo Chris & Rosie Ramsey.

Several sources have suggested to TV Zone that the project, based on the idea that producers can 'hack' and go live to audience members' Ring doorbell cameras across the country, has been shelved and there's no plans for a full series in the immediate future, but could be a format which is revisited in the future.

The pilot format consisted of various rounds and games involving audience members and members of the public who lived on their streets. Games included 'What Happened Next' where the audience had to guess what happened next in a clip taken from a camera doorbell.

Other rounds consisted of messages being sent to community Whatsapp groups, with the person first to appear at the chosen person's doorbell becoming their 'doorstepper' and played the game with the person in the studio.

Both the doorstopper and studio player had the chance to win thousands of pounds to share between them by taking part in games such as knocking at random doors in the street and asking a question to the homeowner, and going back to their own homes to grab an instructed item.

ITV declined to comment when approached by TV Zone.
