RIP-OFF BRITAIN: LOUISE MINCHIN JOINS PRESENTING LINE-UP OF BBC DAYTIME HIT

Louise Minchin will join Gloria Hunniford and Julia Somerville and the rest of the Rip Off Britain team to tackle the most pressing consumer issues hitting audiences across the UK. Returning to screens on Monday, 6 January 2025.

With 15 episodes over three weeks, Rip off Britain will continue to bring audiences all the information they need to keep  their money safely in their pocket – exposing rip-offs and scams, and providing expert advice.

The new series will showcase weekly sun-soaked ‘Holiday’ specials, where the focus is making sure holidaymakers can enjoy their well-earned breaks. Audiences will see the ladies highlight and expose the latest consumer issues sweeping the nation, with highlights including Louise experimenting with eggs and a two metre-high fence… in an attempt to find out why so many parcels are getting damaged.

She will also hear from travellers caught up in the floods in Dubai in April 2024, who’ve been left thousands of pounds out of pocket, and say a leading global airline should have done much more to help them.

The team also go undercover to expose high pressure sales tactics by a domestic heating company - and hear from customers who ended up with rocketing energy bills.

Louise says: "I’m delighted to be joining the incredible team at Rip Off Britain. I’ve always admired the show for really making a difference, for shining a spotlight on the issues that matter most to people and empowering viewers with the knowledge to tackle everyday challenges and stand up for their rights...

"From uncovering scams to giving audiences the advice they need to safeguard their money, we’ll do our best to promote the stories that expose the latest consumer issues and help to make a real difference. It’s going to be an exciting series!”

Commissioning Editor for Daytime , Rachel Platt says: “ Louise is a great addition to the  Rip Off Britain team. She brings both the journalistic rigour needed to hold organisations to account and the warmth and empathy to get to the heart of real stories.”

Rip Off Britain will be returning to BBC One and BBC iPlayer from Monday, 6 January 2025.
