ROMESH RANGANATHAN'S PARENTS' EVENING: CELEBRITY GUESTS FOR ITV SERIES REVEALED

BAFTA Award winner Romesh Ranganathan is to host a brand new primetime celebrity game show for ITV1 and ITVX, Romesh Ranganathan's Parents’ Evening (3x60'), where three celebrities each week compete to win money for their chosen charity.

Celebrities will be teaming up with their daughters, sons, mums or dads in the show where it doesn’t matter what you know, it’s what your mother and father think you know.

Packed full of huge laughs and enormous embarrassment, the contestants’ fortunes lie in the hands of those supposed to know them the best… their parents. Likewise, Romesh will be doing his best to keep his own mum, Shanthi happy as she helps oversee proceedings and the team scores, as well as keeping Romesh in check!

In each round it’s down to the parents to determine what they think their (adult) kids know, but how well do they really know them? With a mix of list and picture questions plus buzzer rounds, the grown-up children will need to answer the questions correctly but it's their parents that will be choosing their questions - putting them in the firing line and gambling on how many they can get right.

If they meet their parent's expectations they will get the money, but fall short and the cash is split between the other teams. Whoever pockets the most cash will earn the right to play with their parent in the final round, for a chance to double their money for charity.

In a game where the parents decide everything, will their offspring meet their expectations? Who knows, but what we can promise is a night of entertainment where, just like the Parents' Evening you remember, our celebrities will suffer embarrassment, vicious grading, and a stern word in the car park after.

Celebrities taking part are: Alison Hammond and her son Aidan; Tony Bellew and son Corey; Joel Dommett and mum Penny; Mel B and daughter Phoenix; Jonathan Ross and daughter Honey; Carol Vorderman and son Cameron; Iain Stirling and his mum Alison; Richard Madeley and daughter Chloe and Vicky Pattison and mum Caroll.

Romesh Ranganathan said: “I am really grateful ITV has given me the chance to host this brand new series. I am less grateful, they also gave the chance to my mother.”

Katie Rawcliffe, Head of Entertainment, Commissioning ITV said: “In this brand new celebrity game show packed full of laughter and embarrassing revelations, we will see how much these famous parents and kids really know each other. With Romesh as host and his mum, Shanthi, keeping him in check too, viewers will be treated to plenty of comedy as well as chances to play along and join in at home.”

Benjamin Green at Ranga Bee Productions said: “It has been a real joy creating this brand new format with ITV. We believe this show has everything: Romesh, his mum, celebrities, great play-along and a groundbreaking chair that moves backward three feet.”

Romesh Ranganathan's Parents’ Evening is a Ranga Bee Production for ITV1 and ITVX.
