ROMEO & DUET AXED BY ITV WITH NO PLANS FOR SERIES 2

ITV have confirmed they have no plans for a second series of Romeo & Duet.

The seven-part dating series, produced by Goat Films, aired six episodes this Spring in the Saturday night 7pm slot on ITV, with all episodes recording less than two million viewers.

An ITV spokesperson said (via The Sun): "We have no plans for future series of Romeo & Duet at present. But we look forward to working with Oti again on The Masked Dancer later this year and are actively discussing other projects going forward."

Romeo & Duet gives its singers just one song to entice a singleton down from the balcony. Only then will the two come face-to-face for the first time.

The newly formed couple will then head off on a duet-date to learn a duet before returning later in the show to perform that duet in the ultimate romantic love battle; a singing competition against the other couples to be crowned the winners.

An insider told The Sun: "The feeling was that it wasn’t a case of Oti not being right for the show, more that the show wasn’t right for Oti...

"So many of our biggest hosts have had to suffer a few bumps in the road at the start of their career, and that’s how this is viewed by execs. They’re confident that this isn’t a reflection on Oti in any way and she’s still a figure who is much loved by the public."

Previous episodes of Romeo & Duet are available on ITV Hub.
