Hit drama SAS Rogue Heroes from writer Steven Knight is set to return for a third series on BBC One.

The third instalment, based on Ben Macintyre’s best-selling book of the same name, is currently in pre-production and is due to commence filming this Summer, production listings seen by TV Zone state. The BBC have not announced or confirmed the recommission, casting or potential air dates.
Series one followed David Stirling (Connor Swindells), Jock Lewes (Alfie Allen) and Paddy Mayne (Jack O’Connell) in a dramatised account of how the SAS was formed in the darkest days of World War Two, with fellow cast members including Dominic West, Sofia Boutella, Tom Glynn-Carney and Theo Barklem-Biggs.
Series two rejoins the troops in spring, 1943. Paddy Mayne takes control of the SAS following David Stirling’s capture, as attention turns from the conflict in North Africa to mainland Europe.
But GHQ have cast doubt over the future of the regiment, while the creation of a second unit and an influx of new arrivals make things even more difficult for the men. Can they prove that the SAS remains essential to the war, wherever it may lead them?
The cast of the first two series included Jack O’Connell (Paddy Mayne), Connor Swindells (David Stirling), Sofia Boutella (Eve Mansour) and Dominic West (Dudley Clarke).
Previous series of SAS Rogue Heroes are available now on BBC iPlayer.
