SKY UNVEILS SEPTEMBER PROGRAMMING HIGHLIGHTS
Sky have revealed the new and returning programming airing on its portfolio of channels this September.
The Penguin
The next chapter in The Batman saga comes to Sky and NOW this September. Starring Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb (aka "The Penguin"), the eight-episode DC Studios drama series continues the epic crime saga that filmmaker Matt Reeves began with Warner Bros. Pictures' global blockbuster "The Batman”, and centres on the titular gangster as he moves to become the kingpin of Gotham City’s underworld.
Brassic - Series 6
After an epic end to the last season, the gang are back with as much wild adventure and hilarity as ever. Reeling from the explosive encounter with Manolito, they set about getting their lives back in order. Only now the landscape is changing, people are getting older and the question of growing up looms in the air. But what does ‘growing up’ mean to a bunch like this?
Season six is a madcap journey involving man-eating crocodiles, bigamists and a naked cult. The MacDonagh’s are creating trouble again, stepping it up a gear as they get high on new-found power. And amongst all this, we’re taken on an emotional rollercoaster with some heartfelt goodbyes and new love interests on the horizon.
Funny Woman - Series 2
Funny Woman is back on 6 September, and the second series finds Sophie (Gemma Arterton) on a high. She is the nation’s favourite TV comedy star; she’s got a group of good friends and her romance with Dennis is full of promise. But trouble is just round the corner: Dennis's divorce will take three years; Sophie’s new sitcom flops and she uncovers a devastating family secret.
Sophie escapes the turmoil by taking a leading role in a film opposite a glamorous French movie heartthrob. The film is a hit and Sophie’s slick new US agent offers her a fresh start in Hollywood… But Sophie returns to London, determined to get the gang back together and to create a new show which reflects her real life and challenges outdated cultural conventions.
Black Widow
Black Widow follows the decade-long police investigation into one of Britain’s most dangerous female murderers. Over 20 years, Dena Thompson, known as ‘The Black Widow’, carried out a sustained campaign of fraud, deception, bigamy and murder.
Using Lonely Hearts columns to lure a succession of husbands and dozens of lovers into her life, she was able to coerce them into giving up their life’s savings, their homes, their families and their freedom based on her bizarre but convincing stories.
Dena was finally caught in 2003 and convicted for murder, but after 19 years behind bars, she has been released from prison, and her victims are still struggling to understand what happened to them. This three-part series includes first-hand testimony from those affected, with exclusive access to her first husband - who ended up homeless believing he was on the run from the mafia.
Transmission details will be announced in due course.
