STILL OPEN ALL HOURS 'CANCELLED' BY BBC AFTER SIX SERIES
Granville’s shop has closed its doors after six series on BBC One. The series began with a Boxing Day special in 2013 which as one of the festive period’s highest-rating programmes, watched by an average of 9.4 million viewers at the time.
Starring David Jason, Still Open All Hours was based on the classic BBC sitcom Open All Hours. The original series, which starred Ronnie Barker, ran for 26 episodes across four series between 1973 and 1985.
A seventh series of Still Open All Hours had been commissioned by the BBC in 2019, however production was delayed due to the Coronavirus Pandemic in 2020. At the time, the BBC said that discussions about production of the seventh series was ongoing.
However, British Comedy Guide has revealed that the commission has now been 'reversed' after its Executive Producer and BBC's Head Of Comedy both left the corporation since the last series aired.
A BBC spokesperson told British Comedy Guide: "There are currently no plans for new episodes of Still Open All Hours. We'd like to thank the cast and crew for six wonderful series, which are all available to view on BBC iPlayer."
Previous series of Still Open All Hours are available on BBC iPlayer.
