The BBC previously announced additional steps to strengthen welfare and support on Strictly Come Dancing. . Concerns that have arisen in recent months have been fundamentally about training and rehearsals.

The BBC have taken the decision to introduce the following additional practical steps:

  1. have a production team member present during training room rehearsals at all times;

  2. increase existing support with the addition of two new roles on the show dedicated to welfare support – a Celebrity Welfare Producer and a Professional Dancer Welfare Producer; and,

  3. deliver further training for the production team and crew.

Sarah James, Executive Producer says: “This year Strictly marks two decades of entertaining the nation and we will be back with a bang in September as we celebrate in style with our incredible team both on and off screen.”

In addition to all this, viewers are in for an extra special 20th birthday treat as an unmissable one-off programme will also be coming to BBC One and iPlayer that promises a journey through 20 years of unforgettable entertainment featuring iconic performances and plenty of heart-warming interviews with past celebrity stars, professional dancers, and judges too.

Further details, including the brand new celebrity contestants taking to the floor in 2024, will be announced in due course.
