THE MASKED SINGER RENEWED FOR SEVENTH SERIES ON ITV

IF YOU MISSED IT

Ahead of this weekend's grand final, ITV have confirmed that The Masked Singer will return for its seventh 8x90' series next year. The series was announced as part of a double recommission last year.

The BAFTA-winning show returned earlier this year, this time with a new panel as broadcaster and entrepreneur Maya Jama joined alongside Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan who all resume their celebrity detective roles.

The affable Joel Dommett returns as host as the hit BAFTA-winning show that continues to grip the nation. Since bursting onto TV screens in 2020, The Masked Singer UK has reached a staggering 37 million viewers who have tuned in to guess who is hiding behind the mask.

A fresh batch of famous faces will don a line-up of extraordinary and elaborate costumes in a bid to disguise their identities as they sing in front of a studio audience and the celebrity judging panel.

Meanwhile, as we previously reported in April 2024, a local version of Canadian music competition format Zenith could be heading to the UK, with new reports suggesting the project is in development at ITV.

Zenith sees 24 "well-known" singers from different generations competing over multiple weeks and performing to an audience of 100 judges who are grouped by their age, including Boomers, Generation X, Generation Y and Generation Z.

The Masked Singer UK is produced by Bandicoot Scotland, a joint venture with Argonon. The series is executive produced by Derek McLean, Daniel Nettleton and Claire Horton. It was commissioned for ITV by Head of Entertainment Commissioning Katie Rawcliffe and Commissioning Editor Joe Mace.

The Masked Singer is available now on ITVX.
