Coogan has avoided being banned from driving after he was caught speeding in July last year. In a letter to Birmingham Magistrates Court, Coogan said: "I am due to appear in a well-established TV series called The Trip which as the title suggests requires me to drive...
"This starts filming towards the end of June 2025 and if I were unable to drive, the production would likely be unable to proceed. These projects would be severely impacted, not only affecting my own livelihood but also the many individuals dependent on these productions for work..."
The Trip will see Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon return as their fictional alter-egos in the fifth instalment of director Michael Winterbottom's perfectly seasoned comedy road trips.
Meanwhile, Coogan is reprising his iconic character Alan Partridge for a brand new BBC One series, 'How Are You?'. The series, coming soon, was previously announced under the title 'And Did Those Feet…'.
Alan is settling into life back in Norfolk after a year working in Saudi Arabia, but the adjustment has left him with a deep sense of unease. Seeing himself and his homeland anew, there are pressing and frankly glaring questions he’d like to ask of himself and, on behalf of himself, of the country.
One of the first - if not the first - documentary to address the issue of mental wellness, the six-part series follows the revered and beloved broadcaster on a quest to understand what’s going on, with Britain’s minds and his own.
More details about both shows will be announced in due course.
