TWISTED TWINS: TRUE CRIME DOCUMENTARY SERIES ANNOUNCED FOR ITV

ITV have commissioned new two-part documentary series Twisted Twins, which will tell the stories of identical twins part of murder investigations, manslaughter and missing persons.

Identical twins and their particularly intense bond is mostly considered a positive thing, but what happens if it becomes a curse? Could their unique relationship, or a lack of personal identity, lead to deadly consequences?

Each stand-alone episode of this documentary series explores a different jaw-dropping true twin crime story and discover if the phenomenon of twinship influenced the dark events that unfolded.

This documentary examines the chilling true stories of twin sisters Jasmiyah and Tasmiyah Whitehead, who brutally killed their own mother together, and of Chris Dawson, who was convicted of murdering his wife so that he could start a new life with his teenage lover, a relationship seemingly condoned by his identical twin brother Paul Dawson who continues to support him to this day.

Told through the testimony of those closest to the cases - from friends and family members to law enforcement - each episode hones in on the twin psychology behind the crimes.

ITV's factual commissioner Jo Clinton-Davis commented: "This series offers a unique take on the psychology of identical twins and a singular twist on the crime genre – offering a double layer of impact and insight."
