ITV2 CALLS TIME ON WEEKENDER AFTER TEN YEARS

ITV have called time on the Weekender franchise after ten years on ITV2. The series has been located in Magaluf, Ibiza and most recently in Kavos has ran on ITV2 since 2013

Each episode follows two groups of people aged 18 to 24 who go to the resort to enjoy a long weekend of partying. While staying at their hotel, the young people have four holiday reps to help them fully enjoy their trip.

Cameras are there to follow the travelling Brits wherever they go, whether it's the bar, pool or their hotel rooms. As the programme documents, things can get out of control when a resort hotel is filled with young adults who are determined to have a good time.

The programme, which has been narrated by Joe Lycett and latterly Tom Rosenthal, guarantees the ups and downs, romances and tongue-in-cheek adventures of a holiday in one of the nation’s favourite holiday hotspots.

A source told The Sun: "The cast were recently informed that planned filming later this year has now been cancelled and the show won't be coming back. They're all gutted as many of them have been on it for years and it's always been such a popular format...

"ITV2 have had to make some difficult decisions with the return of Big Brother taking up a big portion of the schedule later in the year, and it looks like the Weekender series is one of those casualties. Obviously in telly land shows can always be resurrected, so it's not necessarily gone forever, but for the foreseeable future it's off the cards."

Previous series of Ibiza and Kavos Weekender are available to stream now on ITVX.
